IGNOU celebrated its 40th foundation day with participation from IGNOU Kohima Regional Centre, highlighting progress in accessibility and higher education.

DIMAPUR — Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated its 40th foundation day on November 19, with the main event held at its headquarters located in New Delhi.
Peter Scott, FSRN, president and CEO, Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada, was the chief guest at the main event, which was presided over by Uma Kanjilal, vice chancellor, IGNOU, according to an update.
The IGNOU Regional Centre Kohima joined the occasion to commemorate the day, and Dr. Premila Swamy D, regional director, expressed greetings to the guests, staff and learners.
In her speech, Dr. Swamy highlighted how since its inception in 1985, IGNOU has evolved into a mega university with a magnitude of academic programmes, a vast student network, industry-academy collaborations and the achievement of excellence in research and innovation.
She also pointed out that despite different challenges, the regional centre strives to provide higher education to the remote locations in the state of Nagaland, aligning with IGNOU’s vision and mission to provide quality education, accessibility and inclusivity.
