State Bank of India donates bus to Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Kohima.

DIMAPUR — Reaffirming its commitment to nurturing healthcare, supporting rural education and empowering young girls across the nation, the State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday donated a bus to Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), Kohima, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The SBI also gifted bicycles to girl students of Government Middle School (GMS), Diezephe, and extended financial assistance of INR 5 lakh to Government Primary School (GPS) of Zisunyu village under Tseminyu district.
The facilities were handed over by Ashwini Kumar Tewari, SBI Managing Director (Corporate Banking & Subsidiaries) at Corporate Centre, during a programme held at Niathu Resort in Chümoukedima.

Prabhas Bose, SBI Chief General Manager of Guwahati Circle; Atul Shrivastava, SBI Chief General Manager (Associates & Subsidiaries), Corporate Centre; and Amaresh Kumar Jha, SBI General Manager (NW II), Guwahati Circle, were also present during the programme.
A bus was donated to NIMSR in recognition of its crucial role in advancing medical education and healthcare delivery in the state.
Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, NIMSR Director-cum-Dean, appreciated the SBI for donating a bus which, according to her, has been a long-felt need of the institution for the last three years. She added that the bus would be used for community services and educational activities.
Under SBI’s pan-India activities to promote education and improve infrastructure in rural areas, a financial support of INR 5 lakh was also donated to the Government Primary School, Zisunyu village, under the Tseminyu district. Established in 1934, GPS Zisunyu village is one of the oldest schools in Nagaland.
The assistance was handed over to Kenyulo Tsela, the primary teacher of GPS Zisunyu village.
In line with the Government of India’s initiative “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” the SBI also distributed bicycles to 10 girl students of Government Middle School (GMS), Diezephe. The bicycles would help them travel safely and conveniently to school, encouraging attendance and continuity of education.
Speaking on the occasion, Tewari assured SBI’s continued support in providing the much-needed assistance even in the days to come. He informed that the bank has been doing CSR in education, health, youth development, skill development, employment and rural development.
He further conveyed best wishes to the beneficiaries in their endeavours.
Later, Tewari, along with other officials, flagged off the bus.
