Kohima Police issues safety advisory ahead of Hornbill Festival 2025

DIMAPUR — With thousands of visitors expected to arrive for the Hornbill Festival beginning December 1 at Kisama Heritage Village, Kohima Police on Sunday issued an advisory urging tourists and participants to follow safety protocols and cooperate with law-enforcement personnel to ensure a smooth and secure ten-day celebration.

It appealed to all travellers to strictly comply with government-issued travel and security guidelines, stating that adherence to these instructions would play a crucial role in maintaining order and facilitating seamless movement during the festival.

Highlighting concerns over misuse of vehicle passes, the advisory asked all car pass holders—particularly those with ‘Z’ category passes—to safeguard their permits and avoid leaving them inside vehicles unattended.

Any loss or compromise of car passes, it warned, could affect festival traffic arrangements and overall security.

Kohima Police further encouraged tourists and visitors to approach the Tourist Police or any on-duty personnel for assistance regarding complaints, inconveniences or emergencies.

Police teams will be stationed across key festival sites to provide immediate support.
