DIMAPUR — The New Ministers’ Hill Panchayat of Kohima announced a renewed initiative to strengthen community cooperation aimed at improving the quality of life and safety of residents.
According to a press release, the panchayat will launch several proactive programmes, including 24x7 roster duty in the colony, particularly at the View Point area, regular checks on alcohol use, and organised cleanliness drives.
The colony further stated that with the cooperation of residents, the problem of alcohol consumption in public areas of New Ministers’ Hill has been largely minimised. However, the panchayat expressed regret that a few individuals continue to remain intoxicated and cause public disturbances, especially at midnight.
The panchayat warned that stern and stringent action would be taken against individuals involved in drunk driving, violence, or any illegal activities linked to alcohol abuse. It further stated that details of the type and registration number of vehicles involved in such offences would be made public through local dailies and social media platforms.
