DIMAPUR — The Kohima Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee convened a meeting on September 8 at the deputy commissioner’s office, Kohima, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kohima, Ruopfükuotuo Noudi, chairing the session.
The meeting focused on finalising and strengthening the action plan of the committee, according to a DIPR report.
During the discussions, committee members expressed strong commitment to supporting the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan goals. They emphasised the need for all stakeholders to remain sincere and dedicated in addressing drug and alcohol abuse challenges.
Members shared practical insights and cited cases from their respective departments, underscoring the ground realities and obstacles in combating substance abuse.

Key areas of focus included enhancing education and awareness generation campaigns to promote anti-drug consciousness and improve mental health, especially among the youth.
The committee also stressed the importance of conducting specialised workshops for healthcare service providers, including mental health professionals, to strengthen their capacity in dealing with substance abuse cases.
Further, the meeting highlighted the need to bolster treatment and counselling services at hospitals and rehabilitation centres, along with targeted interventions in vulnerable populations and colonies or villages identified with high incidences of drug and alcohol use.
