Kohima Municipal Council organises free medical camp as part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 for sanitation workers.

KOHIMA — The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) organised a free medical camp as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 for sanitation workers at its office complex, Kohima, on Monday.
A total of 104 sanitation workers as well as some other individuals availed the free health check-up.
The medical check-up was conducted under the banner of Safaimitra Suraksha Shivir in collaboration with the office of the chief medical officer, Kohima, and urban primary health centre, Seikhazou.
Neilhouphre Paphino, Chief Inspector KMC, said the main objective of organising the health camp was to protect the health of the sanitation workers while adding that providing them a free health check up to this group of workers is the municipality’s priority.

The sanitation workers were also provided with safety gears during the health camp. The camp is a bi-annual event conducted by KMC.
The free medical camp is primarily targeted at the sanitation workers and front line warriors who manage waste and keep the entire city healthy.
The well-being is of utmost importance. This camp ensures they have access to essential health checkups and awareness, recognising that their safety is fundamental to the success of the continuous sanitation machine, it was informed.
Dr. M Nukshisangla Jamir, Joint Director of NSACS and State Nodal Officer National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme, said they have been planning to conduct the programme to vaccinate the sanitation workers for Hepatitis B vaccination because sanitation workers are highly vulnerable to infectious diseases like hepatitis B and C.
She exuded hope that the health camp will provide with extra protection to sanitation workers and ensure that they are not infected.
Various other health services including TB screening, HIV screening and syphilis test were also provided.
