State-Level Science Exhibition 2026 held at TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.

DIMAPUR — The State-Level Science Exhibition 2026 on the theme ‘STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat’ was held on Friday at TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
‘STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat’ is a national initiative, prominently featured in the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, promoting scientific temper, innovation, and self-reliance among students.
In the inaugural programme, Mhathung Tungoe, Secretary, Department of School Education, said the science exhibition aims to encourage students to think outside the box and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems.
“Such exhibitions are required periodically to encourage our young minds to showcase their innovative and creative thoughts into real time solutions,” the secretary said.

Tungoe said that such events cultivate curiosity and critical thinking in young minds. These platforms help students demonstrate research and creativity, bridging the gap between classroom lessons and real-world applications.
He was hopeful that these platforms will become a stepping stone for future scientists, promoting a life-long passion for invention, discovery and innovation.
In individual category, Vinoho Phiyie from PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, won first position, while Chingpai Wangyong from Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur, secured second place.
In group category, Sungmochemten and Chingmak OH Chang of St. John Higher Secondary School, Tuensang, won first position, while Kureiwang Newme and Ipeuraile of PM SHRI JNV, Peren, took second.
The winners will represent the state at the national-level scheduled from February 11 to the 14th in Guwahati.
The event witnessed participants from 17 districts of Nagaland.
The panel of judges for the exhibition included Mhasiekholie Sachu, Sanino Nakro, Jenny Kath, Mhashevi Kharutso, Asikho Kiso and Sekhoto.
The programme was chaired by Avino Tase, Deputy Director Directorate of School Education. Vote of thanks was proposed by H Zhokupa Hoshi, Assistant Programme Officer, Directorate of School Education.
The event was organised by the Directorate of School Education, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
