DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA), in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) of Jakhama rural block, organised a skill training programme on paper bag and envelope-making on September 25 for representatives of self-help groups from Jakhama block under the NALSA SAMVAD scheme.


An update from KDLSA stated that the programme was aimed at empowering communities through SHG members with new skills and to raise awareness about legal rights and free legal services.


The training began with an introduction by Vitsituo Mepfhou, NSRLM block project manager of Jakhama, while Viliezonuo Rhetso, KDLSA panel lawyer, highlighted the objectives of SAMVAD scheme and also briefed the participants on free legal services available to them.

It stated that expert trainers namely Livitoli Yeptho and Marykali Swu led the skill training sessions and guided participants in crafting paper bags and envelopes.


The training was assisted by Sokhrienuo Rupreo, NSRLM block coordinator of Jakhama, panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers.


It mentioned that the initiative not only equipped participants with practical skills but also informed them about their legal rights, promoting holistic empowerment within the community through legal aid services.
