The programme was organised by the Longmatra Area Students' Union (LASU) in collaboration with the District Level Committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
During the first session, Chozila T Sangtam, auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) at the Health and Wellness Centre, Phelungre, delivered a health talk on the dangers of substance abuse.
She explained the adverse effects of drug addiction on physical, mental and social well-being, highlighting the growing threat of substance abuse among young people.

The second session, titled “Overcoming addiction,” was led by Tsarise P Sangtam, UESI Field Coordinator, Kiphire. Sharing his personal testimony, he recounted his past struggles with alcohol and marijuana addiction and spoke about finding hope and strength through faith.

He also cautioned against peer pressure and curiosity-driven experimentation, reminding participants that every individual has value and purpose. He concluded with a strong appeal to choose life and stay away from drugs.
A pledge against drug abuse was administered to the participants, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.
In his closing remarks, LASU president expressed appreciation to the District Level Committee for NMBA for its efforts to protect students from the dangers of addiction during their formative years.
He also thanked Government High School Longmatra and St. Luke School Longmatra for their active participation and support.
The programme concluded with a plantation drive, symbolising growth, responsibility and commitment towards a healthier future.
