DIMAPUR — Khonoma Youth Organisation (KYO) has reiterated the ban on hunting within its jurisdiction and cautioned that defaulters would face strict action with penalty.
In an update, KYO informed that some unscrupulous persons were found hunting within its jurisdiction despite the ban. It stated that some persons caught hunting were penalised, while picnickers with air guns have been warned not to repeat in future.
Informing that hunting of wildlife and birds in any form has been strictly prohibited within its jurisdiction; the organisation stated that birds and wildlife hunted in other areas would not be allowed into the village without proper permission.

It cautioned that anyone caught hunting within its jurisdiction would be fined INR 40,000 per individual. It added that Khonoma citizen accompanying the outsiders would also be equally fined.
KYO also informed that confiscated arms and any other equipment used for hunting should be claimed within 10 days on payment of INR 5000 and added that no claim would be entertained after the expiry of the 10-day period.
It further cautioned that anyone who fails to comply with the rules laid down would face severe repercussion including being booked under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
