DIMAPUR — The Khongka Students’ Union (KSU) has expressed concern over what it termed as a serious and unresolved error by the Department of School Education regarding the posting of a retired teacher to Government Primary School (GPS) in Khongka village.
The union pointed out that one H Khumkiu was transferred from GMS Y Anner to GPS Khongka as per government rationlisation order dated February 10, whereas he had retired from government service on August 31, 2024. It stated that the transfer was made in place of M Tojikhiung, thereby disrupting the staffing and functioning of GPS Khongka.

The union resented that although the department had put the rationalisation order on hold through its notification dated February 17, 2025, the same has not been implemented in letter or spirit. It claimed that many transferred teachers continue to serve and draw salaries at their new postings, while the blatant posting error involving a retired teacher has been ignored.
It informed that repeated supplications to the SDEO Pungro and the Principal Director of School Education on the matter have proved futile.
“This ongoing neglect is not only a matter of administrative failure but also a blow to public trust in the education system. Khongka Government Primary School has been recognised for its excellent performance and ranks among the top in enrollment in the district—a result of strong community involvement and dedication. However, incidents like this demoralise our people, disrupt educational continuity and show a serious lapse in governance,” the union stated.
It, therefore, urged the Department of School Education to immediately rectify the posting error and ensured such oversights are not repeated. It further pointed out that timely correction would go a long way in restoring community confidence in the Department’s commitment to quality and accountability.
