TN Mannen urges Khanimu villagers to embrace unity, entrepreneurship and collective responsibility to drive sustainable development and attract investment.
DIMAPUR — Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, has urged the people of Khanimu village in Mokokchung district to work together to build a prosperous future by embracing unity, collective responsibility and emerging economic opportunities.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Panchayat Hall at Khanimu village on August 8, Mannen said development does not happen by chance but requires unity through open discussion, democratic decision-making and respect for both the majority view and individual voices.
“When we decide together, we move forward together,” he said.
Highlighting Khanimu’s strategic location and road connectivity, Mannen said the village has greater prospects for development and expansion than many surrounding settlements.
He noted that its road links to Mokokchung town, the district headquarters and neighbouring Assam provide better access to markets, trade and business opportunities.
He called on villagers to create an environment conducive to investment by welcoming young and progressive minds and supporting flexible land laws that can attract investment from different sectors.
“An environment of trust, clarity and fairness would encourage entrepreneurs and external investors to see Khanimu as a place worth investing in,” Mannen said.
The advisor also encouraged the youth to move beyond dependence on government employment, noting that time is the most valuable resource and that young people should not wait for already saturated government jobs.
He urged them to pursue self-employment and develop skills in areas such as small-scale enterprises, modern agriculture, animal husbandry, local crafts, tourism and services that can benefit from the village’s improved connectivity.
“Become positive contributors to society rather than passive seekers of limited and uncertain government jobs,” he said.
Mannen further stressed the importance of protecting and maintaining government-assisted public assets, including roads, community halls, water sources, schools and health centres.

He said such facilities belong to the entire community and should be maintained with the same care as private property, as neglect or misuse ultimately affects every family.
He urged citizens to act as guardians of common resources by maintaining cleanliness, carrying out timely repairs and ensuring responsible and respectful use of public facilities.
Concluding his address, Mannen said transparent processes and community support were essential to transform Khanimu’s natural and strategic advantages into sustainable development.
He expressed confidence that with unity, responsibility and foresight, the village could not only progress but also set an example for the wider region.
The programme also featured a welcome address by Tongpang Aier, chairman of Khanimu Village Council.
Short speeches were delivered by N Temjen Aier, chairman of Longjang Medemsanger Putu Menden, and Yapangla, Project Director, DRDA Mokokchung.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by Tsüpong Aier, council member of Khanimu, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by S Imli Aier, deacon of KBA.
