Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü retains NWA wrestling title, defeating Menuosetuo Yiese at 30th Nagaland Wrestling Championship in Kohima Saturday.

KOHIMA — Twenty-seven-year-old Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü on Saturday successfully defended his champion title at the 30th Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) Traditional Wrestling Championship-cum-1st Wrestling Festival held at Khuochiezie, Kohima.
Defending champion, Pienyü, representing the Angami Sports Association (ASA), remained unbeaten in this edition as well. Hailing from Kohima Village, he defeated Menuosetuo Yiese in two straight bouts.
The champion received a special award — a plot of land measuring 10,000 sq ft in Chümoukedima, awarded by Tepuleho Pusa — besides a cash prize of INR 6 lakh.
The second position holder was 28-year-old Menuosetuo Yiese, who also hails from Kohima Village. Representing ASA, he received a cash prize of INR 3 lakh.

Twenty-nine-year-old Venuzo Dawhuo secured the third position after losing to champion Pienyü in the first semi-final match.
Dawhuo represented the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA). He received a cash prize of INR 2 lakh.
The fourth position was secured by 19-year-old Venü Vadeo, representing CWA. He received prize money of INR 1.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, the quarter-finalists were awarded INR 20,000 each, while other participants received INR 10,000 each.
It may be mentioned that Menuosetuo Yiese was the NWA champion in 2018, while Venuzo Dawhuo won the title in 2020 and 2022.
The Chakhesang Wrestling Association scored the highest points and received INR 60,000.
