DIMAPUR — A two-day second edition of Khuzama farmers market, organised by the Khuzama Empowerment and Skill Advancement (KESA), got underway on Thursday in Khuzama village under Kohima district, which brought together local farmers, artisans, small business owners and visitors from across the region.
An update from KESA stated that this year’s market featured a wider range of stalls, showcasing fresh organic produce, traditional crafts, modern handmade goods, floriculture products, homemade foods and local enterprise innovations. It added that the event served as a meaningful platform for community members especially youth and women to promote grassroots entrepreneurship and celebrate local skills.
Highlight of the market was the ongoing effort to preserve and share cultural identity.
It stated that the Khuzama village walk provided visitors with guided experiences of traditional architecture and community heritage, while the nature safari offered scenic explorations of the surrounding landscape, known for its biodiversity and panoramic hill views. It added that those attractions drew both local and visiting participants, strengthening interest in culture based eco-tourism in the region.

Report stated that the market reflected KESA’s broader vision to foster sustainable livelihood opportunities, encourage skill development and support a resilient local economy. With active participation from community volunteers, church members, and local leaders, the event also reinforced unity and social cooperation within the village.
Meanwhile, it informed that the Khuzama Farmers Market is expected to continue as an annual platform for community development in the lead-up to the Khuzama Baptist Church centenary celebrations in 2030.
