- DIPHU — The Karbi
Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) held its 251st special budget session for
entrusted subjects on Friday, chaired by Raju Tisso at the KAAC session hall.
- Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, who
is also the finance in-charge and leader of the house, presented the special
entrusted subject budget for the financial year 2025-2026.
- Ronghang said that the annual budget for entrusted subjects
for 2025-26 had already been presented and unanimously passed in the 250th KAAC
session, based on the tentative fund allocation by the government dated January
22, 2025.

- However, the Assam government passed the KAAC budget
estimates for 2025-26 with certain changes in the Assam Assembly's budget session
in March 2025, necessitating the special KAAC session, he said.
- He also highlighted the total budget provision/allocation
under state owned priority development (SOPD)/centrally sponsored schemes
(CSS), which include special grant to KAAC, minor irrigation (PMKSY,CSS),
construction of Karbi Bhawan in New Delhi, family welfare, and ICDS is INR
74053.70 lakh.
- The establishment expenditure for entrusted departments
amounts to INR 132,582.55 lakh, comprising salary, wages, and non-salary
expenses, with a cumulative total of INR 206,636.25 lakh.
- The department-wise allocation of SOPD funds for 2025-2026,
totalling INR 32,050.00 lakh, was presented for 31 departments.
- The CEM expressed gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta
Biswa Sarma for empowering the KAAC to allocate the SOPD fund to the entrusted
departments under the administrative control of KAAC as per the need from the
financial year 2022-2023.

- Previously, the fund was utilised only based on tentative
budgets. EM Maslai also informed that timely release of fund, as per the office
memorandum (first instalment in April and second instalment in October), has
been smooth.
