DIPHU — The 74th Foundation Day of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm here at Langkung Habe (Town Hall) on Monday.

The day-long celebration showcased Karbi culture through traditional dances and folk songs. Dignitaries commemorated the Council's 1951 inception, highlighting progress in infrastructure, education, transportation, and government schemes.

In his address, Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang paid tributes to the visionary leaders and forefathers whose courage and determination laid the foundation for political recognition and self-rule in the region. He emphasised that their sacrifices and dedication continue to inspire present and future generations.

The CEM also announced that a number of road construction projects under KAAC had already been completed and the rest would be completed by March 2026, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

He also inaugurated the newly developed official websites of the Information & Technology department and the Department of Art & Culture, aimed at promoting digital accessibility and preserving cultural heritage.

Ronghang further highlighted that over 1,00,000 land pattas had been distributed to indigenous people between December 2024 and April 2025. He reassured the public that every application and memorandum received during interaction programmes was being sincerely addressed, reflecting the administration’s commitment to a transparent, responsive, and people-centric governance model.

During the celebration various achievements and awards were presented.

The 74th Foundation Day celebration served as a powerful reminder of Karbi Anglong’s journey—one rooted in self-determination, cultural pride, and continuous development—honouring both the legacy and future aspirations of the district.
