- DIPHU — A
Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Karbi Anglong Autonomous
Council (KAAC) and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for the development of an
Integrated Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) project within the KAAC area.
- The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries,
including KAAC's Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang, MP Amarsing Tisso,
MLAs Darsing Ronghang and Bidyasing Engleng, and senior officials. Reliance
Industries Limited was represented by Vice Chairman Vamsee Krishna Jyothi and
his team.

- Prior to the signing of the MoU, KAAC Deputy Secretary Ibon
Teron outlined the project's key guidelines. He mentioned that KAAC will
provide 4,000 acres of land in exchange for annual revenue of INR 6.6 crore.
- The MoU also mentioned that both KAAC and Reliance
Industries Limited will have a 90-day window to withdraw from the agreement, if
necessary.
- Additionally, the MoU includes provisions to ensure
development of the rural economy and generation of employment opportunities for
the people of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
- Further, cultivators can also grow Napier grass on their
land, with Reliance offering a buy-back arrangement that promises around INR
30,000 per acre annually.
