Jo Foundation Inclusive School staged 'The Sound of Music' at RCEMPA, Kohima, to raise funds for its new school building.
DIMAPUR — The Jo Foundation Inclusive School organised a musical performance of "The Sound of Music" at the RCEMPA in Kohima on August 1.
According to an update, the musical was organised to keep the spirit of inclusion alive, share love, joy, and unity, and raise funds for the construction of a permanent school building, with a portion of the proceeds also directed to support initiatives in Mon.
Dr. Asunu Thong of Jo Foundation Inclusive School, in her address, highlighted the memories of watching the film with her grandmother, noting that the language of love, kindness, courage, and music transcends words.
Reflecting on the school's history, she shared that the Jo Foundation Inclusive School was founded in 2010 with eight students, two of whom were children with special needs. The school was named after Tejopi, meaning "blessing", the founders' eldest son whose journey with severe non-verbal autism inspired the creation of a place where every child is valued and accepted.

The school celebrated a milestone in 2022 when its first batch of students successfully completed their Class 10 examinations.
Dr. Thong pointed out that as the school continues to grow, there is an increasing need for a permanent home and a campus designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
