Assam Rifles carried out multiple community, rescue, and security programmes across Nagaland districts.
DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted multiple civic outreach, rescue operations, medical aid, and security initiatives in the Dimapur, Kiphire, Noklak, and Meluri districts of Nagaland.
In Dimapur, the Assam Rifles conducted a counselling session for families under the Rubaru initiative at Indisen Garrison. The programme, themed "Mera wajood, suno meri awaaz", was conducted by psychology counsellor Dr. Vandini Setia, who addressed the topic of managing anger without guilt.
According to an update, a total of 31 families attended the session, which offered insights and support for maintaining family harmony and emotional well-being. Monthly sessions under Rubaru are conducted for the families of the Assam Rifles.
In Kiphire, the Assam Rifles launched immediate rescue and relief efforts after receiving information about a landslide at Forest Ward on Monday. A rescue team promptly mobilised to the affected location.
Working in close coordination with the Village Guards (VGs), village council members, and local residents, the team cleared debris, reopened the blocked road, and prevented further damage to nearby houses threatened by the landslide.
In Noklak, the Assam Rifles provided emergency medical assistance to Puchong, a 46-year-old teacher from Noklak village, at the Unit Hospital on August 2. Puchong reported to the facility in the early hours with recurrent vomiting, dizziness, left-sided chest pain, and excessive sweating.
The medical team carried out a detailed clinical evaluation, conducted essential investigations, and administered the necessary treatment to stabilise the patient, who is currently in a stable condition with marked improvement.
Discussions focused on the prevailing security situation, the importance of maintaining peace and harmony, and the need for heightened vigilance.
In another initiative, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match with the youth of Thongsonyu village at the COB in Thongsonyu, Noklak, on Monday. The event was conducted to promote sportsmanship and teamwork.
Meanwhile, in the Meluri district, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly cricket match with local residents at the COB in Akhegwo on August 2. The event witnessed participation from local youth and Assam Rifles personnel.
