DIMAPUR — District officials, led by Deputy Commissioner of Peren Hiazu Meru, visited Ahthibung town on Tuesday under the information, education and communication (IEC) campaign “Jan Bhagidari - Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle” to sensitise the public on various government welfare schemes and services.
According to a DIPR report, the campaign aimed to raise awareness of services available to citizens, particularly those residing in far-flung and remote areas.
In his address, Meru stated that the purpose of the visit was to bring government services directly to the people instead of requiring villagers to travel to the district headquarters.
He noted that various departments had set up stalls at the camp to assist the public and encouraged the gathering to interact with officers and staff to clarify their queries regarding welfare schemes and services.
The DC said that since assuming office, he has prioritised education, health, and the economy as key focus areas. He called upon the public, community leaders, and officials to work collectively towards improving these sectors for the overall development of the district.

He also stressed the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among all communities residing in Peren district and urged continued cooperation with the administration and police.
The DC further expressed concern over the rampant sale of land in the district and urged the people to safeguard land and resources for future generations. On Aadhaar enrolment, he noted the low enrolment rate in the Ahthibung sub-division and highlighted its importance in availing of various government welfare schemes, encouraging the public to complete enrolment without hesitation.
It was mentioned that under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, the DC distributed welfare assistance to 25 identified widowed elderly women.
The programme was followed by a medical camp, Aadhaar enrolment, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana registration, Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme registration, an entrepreneurship awareness camp, a financial literacy and bank account opening camp, and awareness on menstrual hygiene.
