Inter-School Pre-Subroto Cup Cluster-I kicked off in Chümoukedima with 28 schools competing in U-15 boys and U-17 girls categories.

DIMAPUR — The Inter-School Pre-Subroto Cup Cluster-I for U-15 boys and U-17 girls, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, officially kicked off on Monday at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
In his keynote address, the District Sports Officer of Chümoukedima, Wutsutho, stated that the tournament is being organised in two clusters: Cluster-I at Chümoukedima Football Stadium and Cluster-II at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
He further mentioned that a total of 28 schools are participating in this tournament: 17 schools in the U-15 boys’ category and nine schools in the U-17 girls’ category.
He added that from Cluster-I, the top two teams in the U-15 boys’ category will compete against teams from Cluster-II at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on June 30, while in the U-17 girls’ category, only the top team from Cluster-I will be selected to participate at the same venue on July 1.
Wutsutho encouraged the aspiring young footballers who dream of becoming professional players in the near future to take this tournament very seriously, as in just a few years they will be representing their senior teams, and with that comes greater responsibility and expectations.

He added that if they perform exceptionally well, they may catch the attention of major clubs from within the state or even at the national level, as scouts and representatives are always on the lookout for young talent like them.
Therefore, he encouraged each one of them to give their absolute best and play with passion, discipline, and determination, stating that this could be the first step towards their dream.
The winners of this tournament, boys U-15 and girls U-17, will represent Nagaland at the national level, where they will compete against other states and union territories in New Delhi this August.
He also mentioned that all expenses, including uniforms, jerseys, shorts, boots, and socks, will be fully sponsored by the state government. Therefore, they should focus on their performance, aim high, and strive to become champions.
