Unidentified miscreants break into Burma Camp Bazaar grocery shop, steal over INR 4 lakh cash; police register case and investigate.

DIMAPUR — Unidentified miscreants reportedly decamped with cash amounting to over INR 4 lakh from a grocery shop at Burma Camp Bazaar here early Saturday.
According to sources, the theft came to light around 6.30 am when the shop owner arrived to open the shop. The miscreants are believed to have gained entry from the rear after breaking open the shutter.
Speaking to media persons, the shop owner said that a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at the entrance was tilted away from view, while three CCTV cameras inside the shop were either tilted upwards or damaged to conceal the identities of the perpetrators.

He said that the thieves made away with over INR 4 lakh in cash, kept for purchasing essential commodities from wholesalers, along with a mobile phone and other items.
The shop owner further said that a similar incident had occurred at the shop about two years ago.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered in connection with the incident, and police have launched an investigation to identify the culprits. The investigation was underway till the filing of this report.
