India Skills 2025 Competition inaugurated in Kohima with 147 participants showcasing vocational skills in various categories.

DIMAPUR — The inaugural programme of the India Skills 2025 Competition, organised by the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DoESD&E), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, was held at the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kohima, on Saturday.
Joint Secretary of Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Phuleshe K Yepthomi declared the competition open in the presence of the Director of DoESD&E, Savio Visa, and other officials.
According to a DIPR report, Joint Director H Alongse, in his opening remarks, appreciated the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for funding the competition to discover youth skills and talents.

State Officer of NSDC Skill India, Parvin Yadav, encouraged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the government.
Senior Lecturer, Fashion Technology Department, A Chubamenla, said that fashion industry technology, being one of the largest employers in the world, has vast scope for providing employment. Therefore, she called upon the youth to upgrade their skills by learning any design and exact size using artificial intelligence (AI).
Assistant Programme Officer Menguzelie, who chaired the programme, said that the state is organising the second edition of the programme after a gap of seven years.
The trades were hosted by the Fashion Technology Institute, Government Polytechnic Kohima, GITI Kohima, Graphic Design Technology NIELIT, Kohima, and State Institute of Hotel Management.
India Skills is a biennial national-level competition for young people to showcase vocational skills. This year, the competition is held for three categories, namely Graphic Design, Fashion Design Technology and Restaurant Service.
Various district Industry Training Institutes (ITIs), Polytechnic Institute and SIMS, Dimapur, are participating in the competition. Altogether 147 participants took part, and 26 participants reached the final competition.
