DIMAPUR — Immanuel College, Dimapur, on Friday conducted an anti-ragging awareness programme on the theme “YaARI–youth against ragging,’ an initiative of the college's Anti-Ragging Committee, with Khekali Y Sema, DCP (Crime), as the guest speaker.
An update from the college stated that the programme was chaired by Zuchano Khuvung, convenor of Anti-Ragging Committee, while the welcome address was delivered by the college’s vice principal, Dr. T Imchanochetla Changkija.
Speaking at the programme, the guest speaker spoke on the importance of addressing ragging at its roots by rejecting superiority complexes and embracing diversity. She stressed that every individual including the victim, perpetrator or witness, has a role in eradicating ragging.

Highlighting the growing concern of cyber ragging in a digitalised world, she cautioned students about the dangers of leaving a digital footprint. She also outlined the legal consequences of ragging, citing laws such as the Juvenile Justice Act and the IT Act, and emphasised that ragging is not just a disciplinary issue but a punishable offence.
In conclusion, she urged students to cultivate self-awareness, empathy and responsibility to become mature and responsible adults.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Langtopongmei, member of Anti-Ragging Committee.
