IGNOU Kohima holds its 39th convocation, awarding certificates to 801 learners.

KOHIMA — The 39th convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre Kohima, was held at State Academy Hall, Kohima, on Tuesday.
At the national-level convocation, Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan was the chief guest of the main function at IGNOU Headquarters in New Delhi. About 2.99 lakh learners from across 51 regional centres were awarded completion certificates.
At the Kohima ceremony, Director General of Police, Nagaland, Rupin Sharma attended the programme and distributed certificates to the eligible students.
The DGP remarked that IGNOU plays a vital role in filling gaps to those who have limited access to education and makes knowledge reach learners.
Sharma stressed the importance of educating oneself and learning for growth, especially for those who have been left behind in the development process.

Getting a degree is one aspect, but practice, skill-based education, and learning from the experiences of others make a difference, he said.
He added that education is a journey that never stops and the quest for knowledge should not stop.
Assistant Regional Director of IGNOU Kohima, Dr. Mayonmi Shimray, said a total of 801 learners at the Kohima Regional Centre have completed their course and were given completion certificates. At the ceremony, around 240 students turned up to receive the certificates.
He added that IGNOU regional centre, Kohima, has over 500 students offering more than 100 courses.
