KOHIMA — Advisor for CAWD and Taxes Kudecho Khamo inaugurated The Jewels Academy at Hozheto Bari, Kushaibil, Dimapur, on Monday.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Khamo congratulated the founding chairman, Rev. Zaseyi Veswuh, and remarked that the institution is an asset not only to an individual or a particular community but to the people of Dimapur and Nagaland as a whole.
He lauded the role of private schools in the state, noting that they have been performing commendably and contributing to nurturing and shaping young minds. He said such institutions have played a vital role in producing leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, bureaucrats, technocrats, educationists, social workers, church leaders, and responsible citizens.
Khamo observed that private schools in Nagaland have become increasingly competitive and are now on par with institutions across the country in terms of quality education.

He further stressed the need for Nagaland to envision itself as an educational hub, focusing on academic excellence alongside skill-based and value-based education. This, he said, would help retain the thousands of students who leave the state every year in search of better educational opportunities while also attracting students from outside.
Highlighting government efforts, Khamo stated that the state has been striving to improve infrastructure and provide qualified teachers to ensure quality education at the grassroots level. However, he stressed that active support and participation from all stakeholders remain crucial.
He expressed hope that the academy would become a place where faith and learning go hand in hand, encouraging students to discover their God-given talents and use them for the greater good and the glory of God.
Khamo further remarked that academic excellence without morality, integrity, character, and faith could be detrimental to society, as knowledge without values may mislead, and positions and wealth without responsibility could become liabilities.
Addressing teachers, he said they carry a great responsibility as mentors and role models, urging them to teach with wisdom, patience, love, and dedication. He also highlighted the importance of parental support and prayers in creating an environment where children can flourish both academically and spiritually.
