- DIMAPUR — A
coordination meeting was convened today at the Indian Council of Agricultural
Research-National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR-NRCM), Medziphema, between
the director and senior officials of the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and
Veterinary Services (AHVS) and the director, ICAR-NRCM, scientists, and chief
technical officers (CTOs).
- According to an update, the meeting aimed at strengthening
institutional collaboration and outlining a strategic roadmap for the
development of the livestock sector in Nagaland, with a special focus on Mithun
(Bos frontalis), the state’s flagship livestock species.

- Dr. Girish Patil S, Director of ICAR-NRCM, delivered a
presentation highlighting the ongoing research and development initiatives
undertaken by the institute, its key achievements, and proposed collaborative
areas with AHVS Nagaland.
- The presentation also underscored the need for enhanced
synergy between the two institutions for effective technology transfer, genetic
improvement of Mithun, and sustainable production systems in tribal and
forest-based communities.
