Huhtangrü village defeated Frontier Legends Pongrongrü to win the 2nd Showuba Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy held at Shamator Public Ground.

DIMAPUR — Huhtangrü village emerged as champions of the 2nd edition of the Showuba Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy, defeating Frontier Legends, Pongrongrü in the final of the tournament organised by the Shamator District Volleyball Association (SDVA).
The valedictory programme of the tournament was held at the Public Ground, Shamator on April 9.
According to a DIPR report, the programme was graced by MLA and general secretary of the Nagaland Football Association Benie M. Lamthiu, represented by P. Pokoi, president of Pathso Public Organisation.
In his address, the special guest highlighted the role of sports in shaping individuals and society, stating that it instils discipline, awareness and responsibility among youth. He also noted that volleyball strengthens community bonds and fosters relationships.

Superintendent of Police, Shamator, Suresh Shinde, in his address, drew parallels between volleyball and life, stating that teamwork, coordination and adaptability are key to success in both.
Earlier, SDVA president K. Yaksokiu Yimchunger delivered the welcome address and acknowledged the support of the late Showuba family, participating teams, officials and supporters.
In the individual categories, Dungtikhum of Sunny Young Club, Tuensang was adjudged Best Setter, Yantsuba of Frontier Legends, Pongrongrü as Best Spiker, and Lato of Frontier Legends, Pongrongrü as Best Back. Kirito of Huhtangrü Village was named Player of the Tournament.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by SDVA general secretary Lato, followed by prize distribution by Amongba Janger, team manager, SDVA, and a benediction.
