The 2nd Showuba Memorial Volleyball Tournament began in Shamator, with leaders urging youth to maintain discipline and consistency in sports.

DIMAPUR — The 2nd edition of the Showuba Memorial Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Shamator District Volleyball Association (SDVA), commenced at the Public Ground, Shamator, on Tuesday.
The opening ceremony was attended by S Keoshu Yimchunger, Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, as the special guest, according to a DIPR report. The tournament will conclude on April 9.
Speaking on the occasion, Keoshu thanked the SDVA for organising a district-level platform that provides a gateway opportunity for the talented youth of Shamator. He also thanked S Yanba Showuba and his family for taking the initiative and sponsoring the tournament in remembrance of the late Showuba.

He noted that Showuba was one of the pioneers of Shamator town, having assisted the district administration from dobashi to head dobashi, and also served as the head gaonbura of Shamator town.
Speaking to the young players, the advisor stressed consistency, hard work, and sacrifice in the game, urging them not to be just seasonal players.
He urged the youth to maintain self-discipline both morally and spiritually, which he described as the main ingredient for becoming a successful sportsperson. He also added that a sportsperson should maintain a healthy lifestyle, hygiene, and regular practice to ensure mental and physical fitness.
