The Nagaland Health department has clarified that free Hepatitis B and C screening, viral load testing, treatment, and baseline investigations are available under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme across the state.
DIMAPUR — The Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoH&FW), Nagaland has issued a clarification regarding services under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP), following a representation submitted by the Network of Nagaland Drugs and AIDS Organization (NNagaDAO) seeking a public clarification on a news item and press advertisement related to World Hepatitis Day 2026.
In a clarification, the department stated that Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C screening tests are available free of cost at all district hospitals, most Community Health Centres (CHCs), selected Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and some Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) across the state.
It further informed that free viral load testing for Hepatitis B and C is available at district hospitals.
The department also clarified that free treatment for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C is available at district hospitals designated as treatment centres under the NVHCP.
Additionally, all districts have been authorised to provide free baseline investigations for patients who test positive for Hepatitis B and C.

These include Liver Function Test (LFT), Renal Function Test (RFT), Complete Blood Count (CBC), ultrasound (USG) abdomen, Fibroscan, and Prothrombin Time.
The department advised the public to contact their nearest government health facility for further information on services available under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme.
