KOHIMA — The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has admitted a criminal revision petition filed by IAS officer Reny Wilfred challenging various proceedings and orders arising out of the sexual harassment case registered against him.
In an order passed on May 27, the court issued notice returnable in four weeks and listed the matter for hearing.
Wilfred has sought to set aside a series of actions connected to SCPS Case No. 01/2025, including the preliminary enquiry conducted by police, the registration of Case No. 001/2025, the charge sheet and supplementary charge sheet filed against him, as well as orders passed by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kohima.
Among the orders challenged are the July 28, 2025 order taking cognisance of offences under Sections 74, 75(2) and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and issuing summons to him.

The revision petition also challenges the supplementary charge sheet filed on March 7, 2026; the April 21, 2026 order dismissing his discharge application in I.A. (Crl.) No. 58/2026 in connection with G.R. No. 31/2025; and the May 1, 2026 order in I.A. (Crl.) No. 65/2026 fixing May 20, 2026 for framing of charges and imposing a cost of INR 5,000 on him.
Pending disposal of the revision petition, Wilfred has sought a stay on the April 21 and May 1 orders. According to the petition, he contended that the trial court proceeded towards framing of charges without furnishing documents referred to in the charge sheet dated June 30, 2025 and the supplementary charge sheet dated March 7, 2026.
The High Court noted that all respondents were represented and that no formal notice was required. It directed counsel for the petitioner to furnish a copy of the petition to counsel appearing for respondent No. 2, the chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW).
The court also allowed the petitioner to file an additional affidavit to place on record the order dated May 20, 2026, by which charges were framed against him.
The matter has been listed after four weeks.
It may be recalled that the Gauhati High Court on December 12, 2025 dismissed a petition filed by Wilfred seeking quashing of criminal proceedings initiated against him over allegations of sexual and mental harassment of women employees at the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).
