Mister and Miss Chang 2026 was held as part of the Poanglüm Mini-Hornbill Festival of the Chang Nagas of Tuensang

TUENSANG — The Mister and Miss Chang 2026 was held on Jan. 13 with theme ‘Lanshedbü Müttao,’ meaning ‘youth who outshines their peers,’ as part of the Poanglüm Mini-Hornbill Festival of the Chang Nagas of Tuensang district.
Twenty-two-year-old Lanulemla from Noksen village was crowned Miss Chang 2026 while Hanhong Kangshou from Ngangpong village was adjudged Mr. Chang 2026.
The common question for Mr. Chang was, “Do you think leadership is about authority or responsibility? Explain with reference to our society.” Kangshou responded saying that when leaders are chosen, they become responsible for the trust and expectations of the people. Thus, asserting that leadership is about responsibility.

The common question for Miss Chang was, “What according do you should be the role and responsibilities of a leader/leaders especially on the issues in the present context?” to which she replied, ‘The role of a leader is to understand other’s opinion and viewpoint, respect and maintain togetherness, enhancing oneness, embracing each culture, individuality and not stick to their ideas.’
The winners of the pageant walked away with cash prizes of INR 35,000 each. The first runner-up of Mr. and Miss. Chang were M Ongmang Lakba and Sanglitola respectively and walked away with a cash prize of INR 25,000 each. The second runner-up was won by Topong Sangmei R and Tonchingyangmai and won INR 15,000 each. Sub-title winners also received 10,000 each.

The special guest of the program was Yingphe Konyak, President, Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation.
The evening witnessed performances by various local artistes like Benjongkhumla, Black Diary (Changlim), Sangmaichila, Auching, and B. Hongsa Yemjong.
