MOKOKCHUNG — The Department of State Taxes, Nagaland, organised a one-day training programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) at Ao Temulung Kilem, Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung, on Thursday.
The initiative aimed to equip Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), registered dealers, and key stakeholders with practical knowledge of GST provisions, compliance requirements, and recent updates, fostering a stronger tax ecosystem in the district.
Resource person Yanrenthung Yanthan, Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes (ACST), delivered an in-depth presentation on critical GST aspects, including Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) registration, filing of returns for DDOs, payment processes, refund procedures, and offenses under GST.

Biju Sharma and Zeko Mero from the IT cell conducted hands-on demonstration, guiding participants through the technicalities of TDS registration and returns filing, ensuring clarity on digital compliance.
Roselinda Longchar, Commercial State Tax Officer (CSTO), addressed the importance of registration, timely returns filing, and Input Tax Credit (ITC) for registered dealers, while maintaining GST compliance.
Longchar’s session highlighted practical steps for dealers to optimise tax benefits while adhering to regulations, empowering local businesses to navigate the GST framework effectively.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from DDOs, local dealers, business representatives, and other stakeholders. An interactive session allowed attendees to clarify doubts, fostering a collaborative environment to address GST-related challenges.
The training concluded with a call for collective responsibility to strengthen Nagaland’s tax system.
Organisers urged stakeholders to apply their knowledge diligently to ensure the smooth functioning of GST, contributing to the state’s economic stability.
