GST grievance meeting for Nagaland held

  • DIMAPUR — The first GST Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) meeting for Nagaland state for the financial year 2025-26 was convened on June 12 under the chairmanship of Chief Commissioner CGST and Customs, Guwahati Zone, SK Sinha, who is in charge of the entire northeast region.

  • The meeting was attended by senior officers from both central and state GST, including Commissioner of CGST Dimapur, SK Mahanta, and Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland, Abhinav Shivam.

  • Officials and representatives from central and state GST, along with members of trade and industry bodies, at the first GST Grievance Redressal Committee meeting for Nagaland on June 12.


  • Representatives from leading trade and industry bodies, including the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CNCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), Young Indians (YI) Nagaland Chapter, and other trade and industry representatives, attended the meeting.

  • Sashi Wapang Lanu, Additional Commissioner CGST, welcomed the gathering and explained that the Grievance Redressal Committee meeting was held quarterly to systematically address taxpayer grievances and operational issues under GST, focusing on transparent redressal in the presence of senior officers of the department. The emphasis was on continued collaboration between taxpayers and the tax administration.

  • The meeting saw participation from members of trade and industry. President of CNCCI, Dr. Khekugha Muru, and president of BAN, Mongkhum Jamir, raised several issues faced by the business community in Nagaland. After discussion, the chief commissioner directed both central and state GST offices to conduct more awareness programmes across the state.

  • Regarding the need for more local GST practitioners and accountants, the chief commissioner introduced the concept of GST Mitra, where training is provided and a certificate awarded at the end of the course by the departmental training academy, which can be availed of by interested persons.

  • Matters related to raising tax exemption limits for Nagaland, extending the dates of amnesty schemes, and the problem of multiple taxation were also discussed.
