WOKHA — As part of the ongoing GST Bachat Utsav campaign, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Friday interacted with traders in Wokha town to raise awareness on the recently introduced GST reforms.
Following the interaction, Patton visited the Wokha Town Council and held discussions with council members, expressing concern for the town’s development and growth.
In a separate exercise, Patton also conducted surprise inspections of several government offices in Wokha, including the District Horticulture, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), District Planning and Machinery, and Land Resources. During the inspection, a total of 12 staff members were found to be absent from duty.

The inspection team included Deputy Commissioner of Wokha Vineet Kumar, Superintendent of Police Relo Aye, and representatives from Lotha Hoho and the Lotha Students’ Union.
BJP Wokha highlights Next-Gen GST reforms
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wokha district on September 25 held a press conference to highlight the Next-Gen GST reforms recently announced by the Government of India.
Addressing the media, BJP Wokha district president Rhanbemo Odyuo described the reforms as a “Diwali gift” from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing reductions in Goods and Services Tax (GST) on various essential commodities.
Odyuo stated that the tax cuts have brought significant relief to citizens and will benefit all stakeholders, including dealers, shopkeepers, and consumers. He lauded the central government’s initiative, asserting that the reforms reflect the Prime Minister’s commitment to easing the financial burden on the public.
He informed that BJP workers in Wokha have begun distributing stickers, posters, and banners to raise awareness about the new GST measures. Plans are also underway to engage with educational institutions to further disseminate information.
Odyuo added that state legislators, municipal leaders, and councillors are actively participating in the campaign by visiting business establishments and interacting with the public to ensure widespread understanding of the reforms.
