DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Information and Publicity, GPRN/NSCN (Unification), under the leadership of President Gen. (retd) MB Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh, issued a statement on January 21 to dispel prevailing confusion.
According to the statement, Huvito Yepthomi, kilonser, Ministry of Kilo Affairs, convened an emergency meeting on January 21 at Zunheboto, in coordination with the Regional Authority of the Sumi Region.
The meeting was attended by a significant number of workers from the Sumi Region, notwithstanding widespread reports alleging mass defection, except for a small handful of individuals who defected alongside Hokishe Zhimomi, former regional administrative officer (RAO).

Yepthomi, having personally undertaken the task of monitoring the prevailing situation in the Sumi Region—particularly in light of the alleged widespread misinformation, misunderstanding, and distrust being circulated—expressed his surprise and encouragement upon witnessing the ground reality.
According to the statement, contrary to misleading narratives, an overwhelming number of workers were present at the meeting. In a unified voice, they categorically condemned the actions of their defected former leader and reaffirmed their loyalty and support to the leadership of Neokpao Konyak and Alezo Venuh.
As a key outcome of the meeting, the kilonser exhorted the Sumi regional workers with a reminder that the present unification under the aforementioned leadership did not arise merely out of circumstance or expediency. Rather, it is the culmination of the collective outcry and aspiration of the Naga people across the Naga Nation, particularly championed by various civil society organisations, in pursuit of peace, unity, and harmony.
“This unification, therefore, is not only necessary but historically and morally justified,” it read.
