DIMAPUR — Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday extended greetings to the Yimkhiung community on the occasion of Metümnyo.


In a message issued by the Raj Bhavan, the governor conveyed his best wishes to the Yimkhiung community and the people of Nagaland. He described Metümnyo as a festival that “reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Yimkhiung tribe, honouring the departed souls and seeking blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity.”


He added that the festival is a time for “fostering unity, reconciliation, and strengthening bonds of friendship among families and communities.”


“May this festive occasion bring happiness, good health and abundant blessings to all and may the spirit of togetherness continue to guide us towards harmony and progress,” the governor stated.


Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also conveyed his greetings through a message on X. “Warm greetings to the Yimkhiung community on the joyous occasion of Metümnyo. As we celebrate this vibrant harvest festival, may it be a time to honour our rich cultural heritage, strengthen family bonds, and foster peace and harmony,” he posted.
