DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Higher Education organised a one-day Government College Principals' Annual Conference, bringing together all the principals from 17 government colleges in Nagaland, at Hotel Japfu in Kohima on Wednesday.
According to an update, the conference served as an important platform for reflection, collaboration, and collective vision-building for the advancement of higher education in the state.
The programme was attended by Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, as the guest of honour.
Sarita Yadav, Secretary of Higher and Technical Education; V Lovitoly Sema, Additional Secretary of Higher and Technical Education and Ex-Officio Director of Higher Education; Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary of Higher and Technical Education and State Project Director of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan; principals of the 17 government colleges; and officials of Higher Education attended the conference.
During the conference, the minister officially launched the Higher Education Attendance and Record Tracking (HEART) App, an initiative aimed at strengthening institutional management and monitoring.

The HEART App incorporates faculty attendance through facial biometric and geo-tagging features, facilitates efficient dissemination of information to colleges, enables the monitoring of institutions, and maintains student enrolment data for project monitoring systems.
The minister also released the "Quality Enhancement Report 2024-2025".
Departmental Meritorious Awards were presented to four faculty members and three ministerial staff in recognition of their excellent contributions to their institutional performance. The awards were handed over to the respective college principals.
The awards aim to motivate colleges to adopt best practices in teaching, governance, and employee support systems, while encouraging the colleges towards academic excellence and holistic development.
Sarita Yadav and V Lovitoly Sema also addressed the conference, while Rishav Sethi made a brief presentation about the department app HEART.
