DIMAPUR — The GB Union Dimapur Sadar has sought the immediate revocation of the appointment of Akangkokba Ao as Gaon Bura (GB) of Residency Colony following his arrest as the third accused in the alleged rape of a minor girl, and has cancelled his membership from the union with immediate effect.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the union said it had apprised the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to revoke or cancel Ao's appointment as GB to pave the way for a thorough investigation and punishment under the provisions of law.
Expressing shock over the arrest, the union stated that it was "beyond our imagination" that a person entrusted with the responsibility of being a guardian and protector of citizens could be accused in such a case.
