The Longleng deputy commissioner has restricted petrol and diesel sales to five litres per vehicle after heavy rainfall damaged major highways and disrupted connectivity across the district.
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Longleng has imposed immediate restrictions on the sale of petrol and diesel following extensive damage to major highways caused by incessant rainfall, which has severely disrupted connectivity across the district.
According to an official notification, continuous rain has damaged stretches of the National Highways along the Longleng–Changtongya, Longleng–Tamlu, Longleng–Aboi (Mon), and Longleng–Tuensang routes, resulting in the disruption of both inter-district and intra-village connectivity.
In view of the prevailing situation, the DC said it had become necessary to regulate the sale of fuel to ensure equitable distribution and maintain essential supplies until normal transportation is restored.
The order directed the public to strictly comply with the regulations issued by the district administration and refrain from panic buying or hoarding of fuel.

As per the order, the sale of petrol and diesel has been restricted to a maximum of five litres per vehicle. The sale or purchase of fuel in jerry cans or other containers has also been strictly prohibited.
The restrictions will remain in force until further orders from the deputy commissioner’s office, it stated.
