A multispecialty medical and cancer screening camp at Khonoma Village PHC provided free healthcare to 145 residents.

DIMAPUR — A multispecialty medical and cancer screening camp was conducted at Khonoma Village PHC, Kohima district, on May 24, providing free healthcare services to residents across a range of specialities.
According to a press release, a total of 145 patients registered for the camp, during which 372 free consultations were provided in obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, general medicine, surgery, dental care, blood tests and ultrasonography.
The camp also included 12 minor procedures in surgery and dental care.
A total of 133 free cancer screenings for oral and cervical cancer were carried out during the programme. Free medicines and spectacles were also distributed to beneficiaries.
Altogether, 34 medical personnel participated in the camp, including seven doctors from Putuonuo Hospital, NIMSR and NHAK, along with 20 paramedics from Putuonuo Hospital.

Five social workers from Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation and staff of Khonoma PHC also took part in the programme.
The programme began with a welcome address and introduction of the medical team by Dr. Keviyani Chücha, Medical Officer, Khonoma PHC. This was followed by a talk on “Oral Health and Cancer Awareness” by Dr. Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Dental Surgeon, NHAK, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Aselie Punyü, VCC Khonoma.
The camp was organised by Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation, a registered public charitable trust established in 2016, in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, with support from Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru, and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.
