Former president of United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji, Yonghopi Sangtam, passes away following a prolonged illness.

KOHIMA — The former president of the United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP), Yonghopi Sangtam, passed away on October 18 at the age of 86, following a prolonged illness, at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.
He is survived by one son, two daughters, ten grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A man of vision and resilience, hailing from Chungtor village under Longkhim sub-division, Yonghopi retired as District Sports Officer, Tuensang, and was serving as honorary secretary, IRCS Tuensang, till his demise.
Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) president Chingmak Chang paid tribute to the departed soul at Naga Hospital, Kohima. Chang remarked that late Yonghopi was more than just a member of the community — he was an example of resilience, compassion, and dedication.

His passing, he said, leaves a void that can never be filled.
H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, Advisor for Information Technology & Communication, Economics & Statistics, and Evaluation, also mourned the death of Yonghopi and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
The mortal remains of Yonghopi were taken to Tuensang, his permanent residence, where his funeral will be held on October 20.
