DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing effort to promote healthier communities through informed food practices, the Food Safety Wing under Mokokchung Zone successfully conducted food safety awareness campaigns across nine villages in Zunheboto district, from June 13 to the 16th.
The villages covered under this initiative included Philimi, Rotomi Old, Khrimtomi, Naghuto Old, Vekuho New, Asukhuto, Vekuho Old, Awotsakili, and Lokobomi.
The programme aimed to sensitise the public, especially community leaders and frontline workers, on key food safety issues, an update stated.
During the sessions, participants were educated on the importance of food fortification, the harmful effects of trans fats, and the benefits of healthy eating habits — particularly reducing the intake of salt, oil, and sugar.
