Food business operators asked to be registered/ licensed under the food safety act and regulations.

DIMAPUR — The food safety officer under chief medical officer (CMO), Kohima, has directed all food business operators (FBO) to be registered or licenced as per Section 31 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Regulations 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of 2.1 Food Safety and Standards (licensing & registration of food business).
It informed that pharmacy, which stores for sale of complementary foods and food supplement, should also be licenced or registered. It added that FBOs operating without the registration certificate/ licence is an offence and punishable under the Act.

FBOs who have not obtained the licence/ registration certificate are asked to obtain through online www.foscos.fssai.gov.in or approach the office of the chief medical officer, food safety section at Paramedical Colony in Kohima for assistance.
The public are also informed to report any food related issue/complaints to the office of the chief medical officer, food safety section, for follow up action.
