East Dimapur Town Council directs to install CCTV cameras

DIMAPUR —  The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed all commercial establishments, institutions, banking service providers located along the highway and main road within its jurisdiction to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras both facing the roadside and inside their premises on or before November 30.

An update from the council stated that the measure was initiated to enhance public safety, deter illegal activities and assist in maintaining law and order within the town.

All concerned parties are, therefore, instructed to install functional CCTV cameras covering the roadside/ front of their premises; install internal CCTV cameras in key areas inside the premises and ensure that the cameras remain operation at all times and recording are properly maintained.

It further informed that inspection would be conducted after the deadline to ensure compliance. It warned that failure to comply would result in penalties as per applicable regulations.
