KT Sukhalu engages with SHG members, examining local products showcased at the first annual general meeting of the MUSA-PHE cluster-level federation in Zunheboto on Saturday.

DIMAPUR — The first annual general meeting of the MUSA-PHE cluster-level federation, organised by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Zunheboto with Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology KT Sukhalu, was held at the Multi-purpose Hall, Old Town, Zunheboto, on Saturday.

According to an update, Sukhalu, speaking at the programme, said that their focus should be on being a producer, as it is linked to growth and allows standing on one’s own feet, which will in turn bring financial stability.

The advisor shared his happiness that more than 2,800 potential self-help group (SHG) members from Zunheboto district are part of the country’s dream of creating three crore ‘lakhpati didis’.

He highlighted the achievement of SHGs in other districts of Nagaland to encourage the SHGs in Zunheboto district. He also lauded the district NSRLM team for organising the meeting by bringing together 1,300 households under the fold of SHGs in Zunheboto block with the goal of reducing poverty and uplifting the socio-economic growth of the community.

The advisor encouraged the federation to strive towards providing greater space and voice for women, thereby becoming self-reliant and encouraging left-out households to join the SHGs.

He further emphasised that the federation should make concerted efforts to partner with government, public, and private sectors for last-mile delivery.
