- IMPHAL —
Manipur's flood situation continued to improve on Saturday, with restoration
works underway and river water levels receding, though 1,65,943 people still
remain affected, according to officials.
- Restoration works, including dewatering, stream de-clogging,
and repairs to roads and houses, are underway in various areas of Imphal East
district, with minimal rainfall expected in the state over the next few days.
- Dewatering efforts using 25 HP pumps were successfully
completed at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple and JNIMS hospital's 56-acre
complex. Subsequently, streams like Pemikhong and Takhelkhong in Imphal East
district were de-clogged by removing debris and vegetation.

- De-clogging of Pemikhong stream significantly reduced
waterlogging in areas like JNIMS hospital, Porompat Soibam Leikai, Porompat
Thawan Thaba Leikai, and Kongpal Mutum Leikai. Similarly, clearing Takhelkhong
stream alleviated waterlogging at Govindajee Temple, Andro parking, and
Konung-Mamang in Imphal East.
- Other areas where flood waters were similarly pumped out
successfully include the Raj Bhavan,Sanjenthong, New Checkon, Bamon Leikai and
Singjamei Beigyapati Leikai.
- The removal of debris and vegetation choking the Nambul
River at Samurou Upokpi has been successfully cleared while de-clogging of
streams, drains, water channels, etc. and removal of debris have been also
carried out at densely populated Thongju, Yaiskul, Ayangpalli, Ningthempukhri
and Nongmeibung to ensure smoother drainage of water.
- Meanwhile, the state health authority has deployed 16 rapid
response teams to Imphal West, Imphal East, and Senapati districts. They've
screened around 300 people in seven relief camps, providing free medicines, and
set up a call centre (104) for health-related grievances.
- The district administration has also informed the
flood-affected people in Imphal East district to submit the damage report for
relief assistance.
