Five pharmacies in Mokokchung found flouting Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

DIMAPUR — A total of five pharmacies in Mokokchung town were found to be operating in violation of Section 18(c) of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
The malpractices were detected during an enforcement drive jointly conducted by the district administration, police and office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, on June 16 to streamline and regulate pharmacies as empowered by Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
An update from the CMO stated that M/s Lucky Drugs, Faith Medicine and Longkumer Pharmacy all in Sangtemla ward as well as JR Aren Pharmacy and Life Pharmacy in Dilong ward were found to be operating in violation of Section 18(c) of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
It stated that the team confiscated all the medicines from the above-mentioned illegal outlets as per provisions of Section 31 (ii) of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.

It mentioned that checking would be conducted at regular intervals and violators would be dealt with as per provisions of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
Additionally, installation of CCTV by all the running medical outlets was also checked by the inspection team.
It further stated that the medical outlets were notified to prominently display labels bearing the message "to be sold only on prescription" for the Schedule H and H1 drugs.
