Fire destroys temporary structure at Dimapur’s Industrial Estate while GRPS seizes 3 kg suspected opium at railway station.

DIMAPUR — A temporary structure used as an outdoor kitchen and storeroom was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out at Industrial Estate Colony in Dimapur on Thursday at around 11 am.
In an update, the Fire and Emergency Services said that one Assam-type building was also partially damaged in the incident. The fire is suspected to have originated from meat-drying activities.
It said that timely action by personnel from Fire Station Dimapur West helped douse the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjoining areas.
No casualties were reported.

In a separate incident, personnel of the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) recovered 3 kg of suspected opium from Dimapur railway station in the early hours of January 28.
According to a police report, the recovery was made at Platform No. 1 around 3.30 am from the possession of a woman identified as Rinku Devi (35).
A criminal case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
