Police arrested a father in Mokokchung district under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for alleged minor assault.

MOKOKCHUNG — Police in Mokokchung district have arrested a man for alleged sexual assault of a minor, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The incident is reported to have occurred on February 16. The accused, identified as the minor’s father, was taken into custody on the evening of February 17.
According to the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Mokokchung, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and investigations are underway.
Owing to legal provisions safeguarding the identity and privacy of the minor, police declined to share further details.
As per informed sources, a report submitted by the Child Welfare Committee played a key role in initiating the case.
